Checking Tire Diameter Before the Install
A growing number of installation attempts that lead to a torn/ripped bead after the technician realizes they are mounting a smaller diameter tire on a larger diameter wheel are being reported (for example, mounting a 15" tire on a 16" wheel).
Several Recommended Installers have asked who is responsible should this happen and how to avoid the problem.
Given the differences between tire diameters across vehicle trim levels today, Tire Rack suggests a quick scan of your customer's vehicle and the tires you're going to install before any work begins.
Are the tires the same diameter as the wheels on the vehicle? If not, simply call Tire Rack for your customer and we will help to rectify the situation before any labor is performed.
Remember: if damage to a product occurs during installation, replacement is your location's responsibility. Tire Rack wants to ensure whenever possible that unnecessary damage and loss of product does not occur.
This fast and easy check will accomplish that and be very beneficial to you as well as to your installation customer!
